The centralized intake system interested party meetings are well underway. The meetings are being used to design the system. We are concurrently looking at the technology and resource needs of the evolving design. The plan, together with recommendations as to potential grantee providers, will be completed by late April and presented to the MLAN Oversight Committee.
The People's Law Library grant has been awarded to a project of the University of Maryland Law School Clinical Program. A design (based upon input from the community of providers) and a work plan have been created to guide the development. The website has been taken off-line until June 1 in order to undertake the first phase of technical repairs and upgrades while the plan for upgrading the content and creating more interactive components is being developed. A plan for community outreach and training to social services offices, community advocacy organizations, libraries and schools is being created.
The Maryland Public Interest Law Resource Center website has developed a first phase plan that will result in the site opening for legal research access by the late spring. We are conducting a survey of research needs in order to better negotiate a package for the community. Continued development of the discussion and substantive law materials postings will be phased in over the next year in coordination with the community providers.
The Pro Se/Unbundled Legal Services Project is currently in the design stage after input at two recent community meetings. The project design will be circulated in the next few weeks for comment and will include two central functions -- support and enhanced communication among existing providers and the development of ways to improve and expand the delivery of services.
